Education West Virginia Mercer County is a professional labor organization affiliated with the NEA, AFT, and AFL-CIO that serves educators through collective action and advocacy. Governance is established through a Constitution and Bylaws that mandate unified membership and vest legislative authority in the members, who elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and nine at-large Executive Board members to two-year terms. The organization operates on a fiscal year from September 1 to August 31, conducting monthly meetings and requiring annual independent audits to maintain financial transparency. All operations, including elections and disciplinary actions, are governed by strict standards of non-discrimination and due process to ensure the protection of members' professional and civil rights.
